It was just a pretend pact between children. Wasn't it?

Heidi isn’t used to the fame that’s followed her after appearing on the reality dating show, and her dating life has suddenly picked up. But when one of the men who shows up is a blast from her past, will she accept his offer or send him packing?

Cory Kingman hasn’t thought of Heidi in years, but when he sees her on the television, his mind wanders back to the pact they made as kids. He never thought he’d actually use it, but when the military calls him away and his daughter’s welfare is at risk, he knows he must at least try.

Well written with characters who draw you in and make you care about them. Relationships grow stronger because faith is central to their lives. Enjoyable and on read again list.

I loved this book! Old friends, one in need of help, and I love how the story unfolds from a marriage of convenience to best friends in love. Highly recommend all this author’s books!

I was surprised that Heidi would agree so easily to honor the marriage pact she made with Cory so she could care for his daughter Bella during his army tour. Cory had to come up with a solution quickly and Heidi is a preschool teacher so she understands young children. Maybe all the bad dates she went on after being on Who Wants to Marry a Cowboy made her realize Cory was a good guy in high school, his daughter is adorable, and that someday this could be something more than a marriage of convenience in name only. Cory has a little survivors guilt from losing his first wife, maybe afraid he wasn't honoring their love by moving on with Heidi even if it started as necessity. I thought it was funny that Heidi likes pepperoni and cashews on pizza. I like them separately, but that combination seems too salty for me.
