We are back to Fire Beach. I love the men and women in this series! I'm so glad Deacon got his own story. He's been in some other books, and I was impressed with him. I always wondered at his backstory and now we know it! He wasn't always a great Christian and made some mistakes. He left his girlfriend 8 years ago thinking he'd done the unthinkable. It has weighed on his soul since then but at least he's come back to the Lord. He loves his job as a firefighter in Fire Beach and the people he works with. Out of the blue, he receives a call one night from Shonda - his former girlfriend. She is in some trouble and feels he's the only one he can turn to. I liked both of these characters and the storyline. Both Shonda and Deacon don't know who to turn to or who to trust. Shonda witnessed a crime, but she's tried telling the police and they aren't helping. People are coming after her and she doesn't know what to do. I liked the believability of the story and the fear that the characters felt. A very good fit with the rest of the series.

This is one of my favorite series and I have always enjoyed returning to Fire Beach. This romantic suspense did not disappoint me. It was full of wonderful characters. I enjoyed Deacon and Shonda and learning about their past as Shonda needed Deacon's help , even though she had not talked to him in over eight years.

The book was full of suspense, action, surprises, and much more. I read it in one day because I could not put it down. It even ended in suspense for the next book. I liked that the characters and the action leading to the suspense quickly pulled me in and did not let me go until I had finished the book. I am very excited that there is a preview for the next book in the series.

I have really enjoyed The Men of Fire Beach series, but In the Light of Day is my favorite of all. I loved the main characters, Deacon and Shonda. Deacon's faith has made him a very different man from the one Shonda knew eight years ago. His guilt over their actions has haunted him, and they had agreed never to contact one another. Why would she call? The mystery and suspense is unsurpassed. The plot has twists and turns to keep reader interest high. (Like it's 2:00 AM, but I'm going to finish the book anyway kind of interest!) I would definitely read more from author Lorana Hoopes and recommend this book to clean romance and romantic suspense readers.
