Have you ever had to pack all your belongings in a trash bag?

No? Just me then? Trust me, it's not glamorous, but it is the byproduct of being an orphan. This being said, I can't help but hope that this is my last foster home. After all, I'll be graduating soon, so I’m planning to keep my head down. No drama from the likes of snobs like Stephanie and her pack of raving narcissistic psychos, and most certainly, no boys.

Unfortunately, this whole plan of pushing through to the end without being noticed winds to a screeching halt the moment star quarterback Aaron Richards tumbles into my life. He needs help and while I don’t want to give it to him, the secretary has decided tutoring him can be part of my Occ Ed credits.

If only his girlfriend, ex-girlfriend according to him, wasn’t Stephanie, the girl who is not only the self-determined queen of the school, but also has begun to hate me with a passion. I never thought I would be the one to stand up to her, but I can't just let her walk all over me. Not only that, but this boy has begun to wiggle his way into my thoughts.

But I can’t, I won’t. I have to make it through to graduation, without distractions.

However, I can’t help but think, what if this year could be different?

I’m so glad to read a teen/young adult book that is clean and relevant, and brings God into the story in a real way as the characters work through their struggles. I loved it! Looking forward to more!

Really enjoyed Sloan's story. Sloan had been a foster child with no hopes of ever getting a forever home. She wanted to go to college, so she was always working hard on her studies. She didn't make friends because she never knew how long she would be at any foster home. Finally, in her Senior year she gets placed in a foster home that she is the only child in the home and they promise to keep her throughout the school year. Their only stipulation was she had to attend church with them. I loved watching her decide to give friends a try and she found God had been taking care of her all along. I'm almost 60, and I enjoyed this book, and I would highly recommend to parents buying for their teens, but It's a great book for adults too! If you like clean stories with Christian values you can't go wrong with 'Chemistry 101'.

This was a great, first book in a new young adult series. I liked the inspiration the story provided. It also gave me a glimpse into Sloane's life as she was in foster care. I liked the messages that the book evoked and that foster care should not define who Sloane was.

Aaron the high school quarterback's life changed in this book after he met Sloan. Both characters opened their hearts to God and it slowly changed their lives on His timing.

I enjoyed the ending of this book and look forward to the next book in the series.

Great YA Book

I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Sloan is a foster kid who tries to stay in the background and not be noticed. Aaron is a star football player who needs a tutor. Sloan is selected to be his tutor, and he has just broken up with his girlfriend who then makes life hard for Sloan. Lorana Hoopes has written a great young adult book. It’s uplifting and faith filled.

A must read for young adult and a very good book for everyone!

I'm a literature teacher, 37. I chose to read this book while looking for recommendations for former students. I couldn't stop reading "Chemistry 101" when I opened it! I loved it, so much! It's what we need for our young adults, even for teenagers and I enjoyed it even myself (not just as a teacher!).
Congratulations for this book! The characters weren't shallow, they had a real background, personalities, they grew up throughout the story and it was edifying. I'd like my pupils to read books like that!
