Is this dare the dumbest thing I’ve ever done?

I’ve been in a funk lately, but you would be too if your fiancé had just dumped you. So, I’m not surprised when my best friends drag me out to dinner. I smell an intervention coming on. However, I am not prepared for their idea to get me out of said funk.

They want me to use a magic eight ball to make all my decisions until Valentine’s Day. And they’ve dared me. It’s dumb, but we all made a pact in high school not to turn down a dare. Still, this seems a little much. And it gets worse when I realize the promotion I’m up for requires me to work with the stiffest guy at work - Derek. This is going to be a disaster.

What’s worse is that somewhere between multiple trips to the ER, broken elevators, and dance lessons, I think I might be falling for Derek. We couldn’t actually work, could we?

Take a Chance on Me is a clean, fun, engaging, opposites attract romance. Katie is totally disorganized. Derek is so rigid I fear he might break. Ms. Hoopes has created a charming tale where these two must work as a team for a promotion only one of them can have. But somehow it all works out. I spent a delightful afternoon with Katie and Derek. Take a chance on this well written, fun romance. You will not be disappointed!

Super fun romcom with polar opposites attract. Lorana makes a big splash in the romcom pond-just don’t sprain your ankle or eat citrus or you might swell like a balloon. Derek and Katie have madcap adventures trying to win the diabolical contest the boss sets up to earn the promotion. Their total opposite way of doing things drive them crazy until it doesn’t. Then there’s the 8-ball Katie has to consult with every decision because of a dare from her roomies that certainly whacks things up. This is mostly a lighthearted read except Derek has some heavy in his past he’s carrying around like a backpack full of rocks and Katie’s effervescent personality might just be what he needs to put them down. Clean.

Cute opposites-attract story

Take A Chance on Me was a cute read. I must admit it never completely hooked me from the start (hence the rating) and I also stopped at the middle of the story for a while but I picked it up again a couple of days ago, and here I am, having finished it only a bit ago. Derek and Katie's story is the best of opposites-attract, though maybe it was done so well, that it took me some time to warm up to both of them and their interactions. There's definitely more to any person than surface level, and they're both proof of it. It was fun eventually getting to know them, and slowly watching them go from competitors to accepting the other's help, to friends and opening up, to attraction, and more. I may not have been completely sold on the eight-ball idea, but it made for some situations. It was great going on all these different dates or adventure ideas to explore a city, and I also liked getting to know Katie's group of friends a bit more (though it took me some time to tell them apart). I loved the support Derek has from his set of friends and how they know just what he needs.
Truly, it's a nice addition to this sweet, "rom-com" series, and I definitely can't wait to read Piper's story!
